Paul Johannsson – Founder and President

Mr. Johannsson has over 20 years of progressive industry and management experience with concentrations in GSE, legal, and mortgage servicing. He has previously held leadership roles with Freddie Mac, McCarthy and Holthus, PHH Mortgage, and BSI Financial Services. Paul and his teams throughout his career have managed hundreds of thousands of defaulted mortgages’ legal processes. Johannsson is also a partner in a construction and commercial cleaning firm, real estate broker/investor, note buyer, and private money lender. He started a solo consulting firm, O.L.A.F., in 2017. The firm is now an umbrella of companies that specializes in asset management and pool purchase diligence, law firm back-office consulting and strategizing, and servicer support and on-site staffing. Paul, in his spare time, is a total geology nerd and enjoys winetasting. His husband and him, when not working on their new business endeavors including a wellness center and specialty wine/beer speakeasy, can be spotted with their two dogs out on the lakes of the Carolinas or traveling the globe.

Michael Messick, J.D.

Director of Legal Support Services

Mr. Messick has over a decade of experience in the mortgage servicing arena.  He joined OLAF from Shellpoint Mortgage Servicing Corporation (SMS) where he served as the Attorney Network Manager.  Prior to SMS, he spent time at RoundPoint Mortgage Servicing Corporation (RPMS) in various Default management positions.  From management of Operations, Quality Assurance (QA), FC/BK Timeline Oversight, Project Management, and Attorney Network, he brings a special perspective to our team.  Additionally, Michael holds a Juris Doctoral (JD) degree from completing law school prior to his start in default, which provides an even more important view and grasp of legal issues at hand.  In his down time, Michael enjoys spending time with his wife and twins on the lake or a golf course.

Jackie Vazquez

Director of Operations

Ms. Vazquez has extensive industry background from her 11 years with Mr. Cooper fka Nationstar and Veriprise.  At the end of her tenure she was overseeing their expansive foreclosure department and assisting in overhauling the servicer’s attorney scorecard and performance processes. Prior to that Jackie had experience from the default law firm side of things through her time at ReconTrust. With extensive work history in the different sectors of mortgage and default spaces (law firm, mortgage servicing, and consulting), she brings to the OLAF team a robust knowledge base and passion for projects. Ms. Vazquez is a powerhouse Dallas resource for the OLAF family and its clients, and governs our industry relations through her various connections and is currently assisting with the launch of OLAF sister-company, Shared Staffing Solutions www.sharedstaffingsolutions.com, to bring recruiting support, servicer on-site resource allocation, and creative workload balancing strategies to our clients. She also co-manages OLAF’s relationship with the American Legal Financial Network and other industry trade associations. Jackie’s energy and wealth of knowledge bring our clients success and care in every project assigned. In her off time, you’ll find her hanging with her 3 kiddos, visiting a Dallas restaurant with friends, or sipping on an ice-cold Guinness.  Jackie is one proud mama sending one kiddo off to get her masters in psychology and the other to get her bachelor’s in business administration.

Toni Owan, Esq.

Senior Manager of Legal Support Services and Strategies

Toni M. Owen, Esq., serves as Director of Legal Support Services and Strategies at OLAF Companies. With an extensive background in real estate law and creditor remedies, Toni brings over two decades of expertise to the OLAF leadership team.

Licensed to practice law in Colorado and Hawaii, Toni earned her Juris Doctor from the William S. Richardson School of Law in Honolulu, Hawaii, and holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Hawaii. She is an active member of both the Colorado and Hawaii Bar Associations.

At OLAF, Toni leverages her in-depth legal experience to optimize operations, develop robust compliance frameworks, and streamline complex workflows for law firms and mortgage servicing entities. Her strategic leadership and proven track record in driving operational excellence position her as a vital contributor to OLAF’s mission of empowering clients with innovative solutions and sustainable growth strategies.

Monica Salgado

Senior Manager of Law Firm Billing Operations

Ms. Salgado has a background in both the accounting and the default legal spaces from management of 2 large law firms’ accounting departments. In her experience she has overseen a 32 state law firm’s accounting group, including every stage of billing to collections. Monica oversaw compliance with investor and servicer guidelines and kept offices connected via her expert leadership approach to bridging gaps and creating synergies. She loves to spend time where she lives, in Miami, with her three beautiful children. Her daughter graduated from FIU and is working on her masters at the University of Miami. Monica’s son is a Paramedic employed with the fire department, recently joining the United States Coast Guard with the intention of becoming an Helicoper Rescue Swimmer and her little one starting his Junior year of high school. Monica Salgado is a seasoned expert in billing and accounting management, boasting 17 years of experience in driving efficiency and accuracy in financial operations. Since joining OLAF in 2022, Monica has led transformative initiatives to streamline billing processes, reducing cycle times and enhancing revenue recognition. She is known for her ability to train cross-functional teams and implement best practices in complex legal billing environments, leveraging tools like Aderant, CaseAware and Legal Tracker. Before joining OLAF, Monica excelled in leadership roles at Quintairos Prieto Wood & Boyer and Spear & Hoffman, where she managed multi-million dollar billing portfolios for both judicial and non-judicial cases, including FHA, FNMA, VA, and conventional loans. A trusted leader, Monica’s strategic insights have consistently supported financial decision-making through detailed reporting and data analysis.When she’s not streamlining billing operations, Monica enjoys spending time with her family in Miami, FL going to the beach and signing up for Crossfit and Hyrox competitions . A fluent Spanish speaker, she is also passionate about mentoring young professionals in the legal finance industry and volunteers as a financial literacy coach for underserved communities.

Sarah Allen

Supervisor of Billing Production

Sarah Allen brings over 5 years of expertise in billing operations and financial services management, specializing in optimizing complex workflows and ensuring operational efficiency. As Billing Production Supervisor at OLAF, Sarah oversees the day-to-day production of the billing team, focusing on automation, compliance, and the accuracy of invoicing processes. Her proficiency with legal billing platforms, including LPS Invoicing and Legal Tracker, has positioned her as a critical leader in ensuring smooth and efficient billing operations across multiple departments.

In her role, Sarah has been instrumental in implementing system improvements that have streamlined billing cycles and reduced errors, all while training and mentoring her team to ensure they meet the company’s high standards of excellence. Known for her meticulous attention to detail and strategic problem-solving, Sarah plays a key role in supporting OLAF’s overall goals.

Outside of work, Sarah resides in Shreveport, Louisiana, where she enjoys immersing herself in the magical world of Harry Potter, sharing the joy of reading the series and watching the movies with her kiddos. She’s also an avid puzzle enthusiast, often spending her downtime piecing together complex puzzles with her family. Sarah is deeply committed to promoting work-life balance and mental health awareness, advocating for wellness initiatives within the company and her community.

Christina Montanaro

Senior Paralegal/Lead Law Firm Support Specialist

Christina Montanaro is OLAF’s Senior Paralegal and Lead Law Firm Support Specialist, bringing over a decade of experience in legal billing, paralegal support, and client management. In her role, Christina provides comprehensive support to law firms, managing foreclosure, bankruptcy, and litigation cases while ensuring compliance with client billing standards. Her expertise with invoicing systems such as Legal Tracker and Aderant has streamlined OLAF’s legal billing processes, allowing for more efficient workflows and faster dispute resolutions.

Before joining OLAF, Christina held key roles at Quintairos, Prieto, Wood & Boyer, where she managed complex billing portfolios and played a critical role in client communication and financial reporting. Her deep understanding of legal operations and her ability to manage multiple high-stakes projects make her an indispensable leader within OLAF’s legal team.

Based in Miami, FL, Christina enjoys spending time with her family and is passionate about community engagement. A fluent English and Spanish speaker, she leverages her communication skills to strengthen client relationships and support legal teams.

Ashlee Schultz

Senior Paralegal/Litigation Support and Servicing Oversight

Ashlee Schultz oversees OLAF’s litigation operations, bringing over a decade of expertise in default servicing and legal operations. She specializes in managing portfolios of litigated loans, including title issues, foreclosures, and bankruptcy proceedings, while ensuring compliance with complex regulatory guidelines.

Before joining OLAF, Ashlee served as Default Litigation Supervisor at Dovenmuehle Mortgage, Inc., where she led a team of specialists, developed policies to enhance operational efficiency, and represented the company as a corporate witness. She also worked as a Bankruptcy/Foreclosure Paralegal at Kovitz Shifrin Nesbit, handling court filings, legal research, and compliance oversight.

Ashlee’s ability to deliver results under pressure and her passion for process improvement make her a valuable leader at OLAF.

When not managing complex litigation, Ashlee enjoys hosting trivia nights and testing her quick-thinking skills with friends and family.

Currently based in Niles, IL, Ashlee is in the process of relocating to Knoxville, TN.

Marim Kamel

Lead Accounts Receivables Analyst

Marim Kamel is OLAF’s Lead Accounts Receivables Analyst, with over 12 years of experience in financial operations and billing management. In her role, Marim oversees the entire accounts receivable process, ensuring timely collections, accurate invoicing, and effective resolution of client disputes. Her ability to manage high-volume transactions and streamline AR processes has been instrumental in maintaining OLAF’s financial health and ensuring compliance with both internal and external standards.

Before joining OLAF, Marim worked at Shellpoint Mortgage Services and Selene Finance, where she managed invoicing and billing for foreclosure and legal cases. Her bilingual abilities in English and Arabic enable her to navigate diverse client needs, while her background in business accounting allows her to approach financial challenges with a strategic mindset.

Marim resides in Katy, TX, and enjoys spending her free time reading, solving intricate puzzles, and staying involved in her community. She is committed to fostering financial literacy and promoting best practices within her team.

Sophap Dianito

Senior Litigation Billing Analyst

Sophap Dianito is a highly skilled Senior Litigation Billing Analyst at OLAF, bringing over 10 years of expertise in billing and financial operations. In her current role, Sophap is responsible for managing complex litigation billing processes (GSE, Legal Tracker, and Ascent), ensuring compliance with legal and billing guidelines, and maintaining accuracy across a diverse portfolio of client accounts. Her strong analytical skills enable her to identify billing discrepancies and resolve issues efficiently, while her collaborative approach ensures seamless coordination between OLAF and its legal partners.

Sophap’s prior experience in administrative coordination and underwriting at BSI Financial Services and Kaiser Permanente has equipped her with a deep understanding of financial management and compliance. Her dedication to continuous improvement and process optimization makes her a key asset to OLAF’s billing operations.

Outside of work, Sophap enjoys spending time with her family in Orange, CA. She is an avid puzzle solver and loves tackling new challenges, both professionally and personally. Passionate about fostering work-life balance, she actively promotes wellness initiatives within her community and workplace.
